New Code of Conduct Requirement 7.4 for 2023

September 2023   The revised LCA Code of Conduct launched on the 1st of July 2023 with one new requirement for Members.  This will be informally discussed with Members at audit this registration year. It will then be an area of audit focus in the next registration year when the audit cycle comes to the code. Revised Standards

July 2023 The LCA Code of Conduct and Service Delivery Standards have been updated for the new registration year.  The changes in most cases are very minor and tracked changes versions are available in the Members area of the website.   The Code of Conduct now has requirement 7.4.  This is new and requires Members to have a system that ensures they are always using the most up to date version of their own documents.  This is a common failing at audit where an out of date form or template is used and a service requirement is missed.&

Firm fined following outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease

June 2023 A plastics manufacturing company in West Bromwich has been fined after it put workers and the public at risk of being infected with potentially deadly bacteria. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigated Riaar Plastics Limited after members of the public became infected with Legionnaire’s disease in September 2020. Five people were infected with the potentially deadly lung infection. One person was taken to intensive care and put on a ventilator after being infected. Legionella Control Association North America

The LCA in the UK are aware that a similar organisation has recently been set up in North America with similar goals.  UK LCA have had some initial queries and discussion with this group but are not directly involved in its funding, creation or development.   The LCA of North America did engage the LCA UK to support due to our similar goals.
